Sunset Sunday-Similar yet different

One thing I love about having storms, other then the awesome amounts of lightening, is seeing the cloud formations. That coupled with the sunsets and you have a recipe for a beautiful sight. Last weekend was no exception. While we didn’t get the severe storms that were predicted (which I have no complaints on) we did get some really neat clouds.

These two shots were taken within a few minutes of each other. The first right as the sun was setting, and the second was right as the sun had almost sully set. Very similar yet completely different in coloring.

Have a wonderful Sunday! And don’t forget to link up one (or a few) of your sunset photos in the linky below.

Sunset Sunday-Repost of a favorite

A while back I took a photo of a sunset that I knew as soon as I took it I would love it. Sure enough when I put my pictures on the computer and brought it up I ohhhhh’d and awwwww’d at it. Now I may be a bit biased but hey, I am allowed to be right.

I was feeling a little inspirational the other day so I added this amazing quote to the photo. You know just in case any one needs any inspiration or cheering up. I hope this photo inspires you like it has for me.

Sunset Sunday-The airport never sleeps

Funny story. I was doing some work on my laptop last night when I kept getting these notifications that my dropbox was being updated. So what’s a girl to do but be nosy and see what was being added. My husband, while completely adorable is a bit of a dork, was taking tons of pictures of what I think was clouds. If not they were completely random building pictures with neat clouds in the back ground. So yeah I will go with the former.
Realizing I once again didn’t take any sunset photos I asked him to take a few for me to share in today’s Sunset Sunday post. Like a good hubby he obliged and sent over about ten photos. These were my two favorites from the group he took.

He said the pictures were just eh but I disagree. I  absolutely love how the sun was right in the middle of the second shot and the tail of the plane was right in front of the sun in the second photo and in the first one with the one plane park and another in the background taxing somewhere it just shows how even while the sky may be peaceful and slow moving an airport never sleeps. So thank you hunny for sharing your photos with me so I could share them here.

Sunset Sunday-Good morning?

I know the title may throw some of you but while I was browsing through my photos looking for one to post for this weeks Sunset Sunday I came across a picture I took with my cell phone (I seem to be doing a lot of that lately) on our train ride from Paris to Brussels. Seeing it I knew that I had to share it, even though it isn’t a sunset but instead a sunrise.

It’s gorgeous isn’t it? I know I am biased here but there’s something just so peaceful about this photo. The start of a new day, a new beginning. That is what sunrises symbolize to me. And when I see a stunning sunrise it reminds me to make the day extra special. I will never forget this sunrise. Even though I was running off less then four hours sleep and less sleep the day before I was getting ready to fly home to see the most precious things in my life, my children. So for me having that little reminder that I needed to make my day great and knowing I would be seeing my babies soon it will forever be carved in my memory. And that is why I had to share this sunrise picture instead of a sunset for this weeks sunset Sunday.

Sunset Sunday-Paris

Over the summer my husband and I had the chance to take a vacation by ourselves. That hasn’t happened since 2002. Yes you read that right, it has been ten years since we had an adult vacation and boy was it needed! In ten years we have gotten married, started a family, moved 12 times, gone from none of us being in school to four of of the five of us in school and many, many more changes. It’s been a wonderful adventure but every once in a while some adult alone time is needed.

So on a whim (sort of, there was some planning but it was quick planning) we packed everyone up, dropped the kids off with the Grandparents and off we went. Where did we go? Paris, the city of love.

I am not quite sure how I managed to not take any photos of sunsets with my camera. We were out and about all day long every day we were there and always on the move. But the night before we left I did manage to get a few photos on my phone.

Walking to the train looking onto Part 1 of the Convention Center
The dome on the left is part 2 of the Convention Center
Walking back to our hotel waiting for the Metro to pass by
Another shot on our walk to our hotel
I wish I had remembered to take more sunset photos but I am thankful I do have a few from my phone. Maybe if there is another trip to Paris I will write myself a note to take more sunset photos.

Sunset Sunday-Vacation time

While I am on vacation for a little bit I had planned to ask some friends if they may want to share any sunset photos and wouldn’t you know out of the blue I received an email from Erin of A Parenting Production with a photo she took while she was on vacation offering to let me post it on a Sunset Sunday post. Talk about timing, and once I saw the photo I knew I had to post it.

Erin took this gorgeous photo at Lake Waukewan in New Hampshire. I don’t know about you but this photo just screams peaceful to me. What a gorgeous view to watch a sunset from, and there is not a single edit done to this photo. Beauty at it’s best that’s for sure. Thank you so much Erin for sharing your gorgeous photo!

Sunset Sunday-Cell phone edition

You’d think with all the traveling we’ve been doing that I would have gotten some sunset shots. Yeah I had thought so to and then I realized I totally didn’t even think about grabbing photos while out and about. I was just a wee bit bummed when I discovered that.

So I went to the next best thing….my phone, and again barely any photos (insert frustration here)! I did manage to find two so those I will share those with you all but I still felt like we needed more oomph. So I went to some awesome friends of mine and asked if they had any photos they wanted to share. Thank you so much Angela, Andrea and Jessica for sharing your photos this week.

 Driving home last night.

Flying from OKC to Detroit earlier this week. I’ve never caught a sunset in plain view while flying before and it was magnificent.

Angela from Untrained Housewife shared this beautiful photo she took. Lovely with the rays shining up isn’t it.
Andrea from Lil Kid Things shared this photo from her awesome birthday dinner that her hubby treated her to.
This photo is from Jessica at It’s My Life and it is absolutely stunning. My jaw may have dropped when I saw it and I may or may not have stared at it for five minutes before being able to take my eyes off of it.
Many people discount cell phone cameras after snapping a picture and they never look back. But even those pictures taken in a fleeting moment have storys to tell. I encourage you to go through your phone photos and relive a special moment in doing so.

Sunset Sunday-Partial eclipse

First I want to apologize if I haven’t responded to anyone’s comments recently. As you can see I redid my blog last weekend and I did not notice that my comment system had been turned off and put into moderation mode. And since I don’t use the typical blogger comments I can’t publish them. They are there, and I saw them I just can’t publish them or respond. I wasn’t ignoring you I promise!

Now onto the Sunsets. I didn’t get out and take photos last night like I had planned so I am digging through the archives once again. It’s always fun going back and finding treasures you might not have known about or may have forgotten about.

These were taken bake when we had the eclipse. I drove all around town trying to get a decent shot, one without some type of obstruction and it was nearly impossible due to the direction the sun sets. But despite the obstructions I kind of like how they came out.

Last week I challenged you all to take a drive and enjoy the sunset. I hope you all remembered your cameras because I can’t wait to see what everyone captured!

Do you love sunsets? Have tons and tons of photos of them or maybe even just a few? I would love for you to join us in Sunset Sundays and share a few of your favorites.

Sunset Sunday-Lets take a drive

One thing I like to do every so often is grab the kids and go driving with no destination in mind. I love driving around like that. It’s a great way to discover new areas and if you remember to grab your camera you can also capture so great local beauty. So seeing as I was bored last night and the kids were all in a mood I knew it was a perfect time for us to go out and explore.

I did somehow end up near an area we had been to a few weeks ago so the kids and I sat in the trunk and watched as a train rolled by, then we headed off to find a new spot. And what we found was gorgeous. And added bonus was there were horses, even little baby one’s. The kids loved seeing them and I loved seeing the smiles of their faces.
This week I challenge you to go out and explore. Just get in your car (with your camera) and drive with no destination in mind. And next week I’d love to see where you discovered.

Sunset Sunday-Driving home

I don’t remember why exactly I had my camera with me on the drive home last week but I am glad I did. This was on our drive home. Every time we get stopped for the coming trains the kids laugh and scream as if it were Christmas morning. I love hearing their excitement and even though I can’t remember what possessed me to bring my camera with me I am thrilled that it was sitting next to me in the car because every time I look at this photo I think of my kids smiling faces and how much joy seeing a train cross in front of us brings them.
