Wordless Wednesday-The beauty of nature

I love nature and being able to see it/watch it is truly an amazing thing. And best of all it’s something to share and teach my children. The kids have been so excited to watch these little birds grow, I’m might be a bit sad when they leave the nest. On second thought I may not, the mess they have made of my front door is disgusting so I wont miss that. Oh who am I kidding, they’re too cute, I will totally miss them.

And I love flowers. I even have a tattoo of three orchids on my calf and I have two more flowers tattoos picked out. They’re so beautiful and fragile yet they bloom every year and bring a little bit of beauty even to the smallest of places.
By the way does anyone have any idea what type of flower this is?

Wordless Wednesday-Weeds, trees & other things

I have been playing around with my Nikon trying to get it to work again. So far it seems to work if I have it set to take pictures in jpeg quality and not raw. Not what I would prefer but hey I will take what I can get. So what does one do when they are bored? Take pictures of weeds, trees and other randomness in their yard of course.

Don’t confuse this child attempting to climb the fence for a weed. He may grow like one but I assure he is not one.

Sunset Sunday-Colorado Sunsets

First let me start off by saying how much I appreciate all my bloggy friends helping me to spread the word on Sunset Sundays. I love you all!

This week I am using a couple of pictures from our time spent in Aurora Colorado. We lived in a three story condo with our bedroom on the third floor which looked out over the downtown area and the view was just spectacular.

These are from two different nights but I couldn’t help but share both. Both are of the downtown area yet each are so different. That’s the beauty of life, every day a new beginning.
Have a picture you would like to share? I would love to see it so don’t forget to link up!

Entering the world of Pre-K and 2nd Grade

I am not sure who is more emotional about my baby girl starting Pre-K and my son starting 2nd grade, them or me. No I lie, I know who it is, it’s totally me. Ummm, wait I take that back. That only applies to my son. He has no qualms about walking into school with his head held high and ready to tackle the world that is a new school. I am beyond proud of him for this.
My husband waited in the car with the two little’s while I walked in with my oldest. He had mentioned a few times last night that he was worried that he wouldn’t remember where his classroom so I reminded him where it is and the room number but I couldn’t just let my little man walk in alone on his first day of school. That just not how I roll. So in we went, hand in hand. He was very quiet so I think he was a tad nervous but once we got to his room we said our goodbye’s and off he went to an empty seat. My sweet boy chose a table right up front.

Now my daughter, that’s another story. She may be cute, shy, quiet and totally princess like but she is also quite dramatic and has some anxiety to her. So I prepared myself for the tears, the no mommy I don’t want to stay, the please don’t go and the screaming. But what I was faced with was the complete opposite. I am still in shock over what an easy transition this was for her. She immediately sat in her chair and started coloring and smiling and did shed a single tear when I said goodbye. She was so calm and I was so proud. Of course I didn’t actually leave until five minutes after I said goodbye. I kept peeking into the window and checking on her but she was fine. She was just sitting at her table coloring, totally in her element. I couldn’t be more proud of my baby girl.

At seven last night she crashed, I guess the day wore her out.

All in all it was a GREAT first day of school for my babies.
By the way I was doing just fine, no crying from me after dropping my babies off. That is until I talked to my Dad and as soon as he asked “so how are you doing” the tears just started to flow. I blame him LOL

Sunset Sunday’s

Since moving out here I have been able to view some spectacular sunsets with little to no obstructions. Being a Cali girl this is semi new to me. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere or have some major bucks coming out your yahoo, seeing a sunset in full with nothing in your view sight is a rarity. Oh yes I can’t forget to add unless you live near the beach. We were fortunate enough to live near one a few years back and I wont utter a single complaint about living there. It was awesome.
I am getting off track here. I have been taking pictures of the sunsets here almost every night. Probably a tad over board but I can’t help it. Every time I see it it amazes me over and over. I’ve been thinking WHAT can I do with the hundreds of pictures I am taking. No one is getting to experience it’s greatness but me. And well that’s simply not fair (at least that’s how it works out in my mind). So here I come, to you, to share the awesomeness of sunsets. The last breath of the daylight, the beautiful scenery, the awe inspiring rays of sun that make you think, wow this is amazing.
My goal is to make this a weekly thing. Every Sunday I will come on here and post a picture of the night priors sunset. I would do Sundays but then that means posting pictures at 8 o’clock my time and most people are tucking their kids in to bed and I don’t want to take away from that or ruin an opportunity for others to join me.
So here we go, the first of many to come, Sunset Sunday’s.

I invite you to join along with me. Feel free to include a description of what a sunset means to you or anything you’d like to say. This isn’t so much a Wordless Wednesday type of meme. This is a talk all you want or talk as little as you want, just as long as you share a picture of a sunset. Whether it be edited, non edited, what have you, it all works!
Once you post be sure to come and link up so I can share some love on your posts!

Chop chop, it’s all gone

I have held firm that I will not cut my youngest hair for over three years now. He has some of the best hair, long ringlets and it’s seriously just awesome. The downside, tangles. Lots and lots of tangles which turns into a hard time getting him to sit still to brush his hair. I have been thinking lately of getting it trimmed but never went to do it. I may or may not live parts of my life in denial so not everything gets done as planned. What can I say, I am stubborn. Well hubs wanted to take our oldest for a hair cut and asked our youngest jokingly if he wanted his hair cut and of course he says yes. So off we all went.

A little history. Since moving here within the first week I had over 20 people tell me what a cute girl he was. At first I would just politely tell them “she’s” a BOY and move on. When hubs heard it he was not happy and of course wanted to chop his hair. While he was getting his hair cut a lady was talking to hubs and again called him a she and when he was done was like oh I’m so sorry I thought he was a girl. FINALLY the hubs realized it’s not just his hair it’s his face. He has a baby face and I think that contributes to outsiders confusion.

She asked how we wanted it cut and I told her just a few inches, my hubs says to the ears, I retort with absolutely not that’s too short and we end up with it being about two inches shorter then I wanted and even shorter then the hubs asked for.

About three inches (possibly more) gone

My handsome man. I was good with this lengt

The end result.

He looks so different but at the same time so much more like his big brother did at this age.

I can’t deny the cuteness of my boy, long hair or short but you do have to admit that it is a drastic change, and I miss those curls!
But hey it’s hair and hair does grow back.

Summer lovin…had me a blast

Were getting settled into the new house, slowly but surely we will eventually get there. One thing I am having to get used to is the heat. I’ve never really been one for high temps, even though I’ve lived in Palm Springs, Texas and Georgia. You’d think I would be used to it by now but alas I am not.
So yesterday morning while the littles ate their breakfast and I drank my coffee I decided to blow off my responsibilities and make a run to the store with one goal in mind. Okay actually two. First get some bug spray to kill these pesky ants that seem to love our house so much they have breached our defense systems and come into four rooms inside, and two, buy a kiddie pool. Of course the kids only cared about the second one, I mean really it was the only one involving fun and I will admit I was excited too.
By the time we got home it was over an hour later because I don’t stick to lists and I am an impulse buyer, so by then it was lunch time. While the kids chowed down on food I prepared the blow up pool. I don’t think anyone finished their lunch out of pure excitement so I just had them get in their suits and come outside with me to “help” me fill the pool.
This is the end result.

iHeart Faces photo challenge-From a distance

This weeks theme on iHeart Faces is “From a Distance”.
As soon as I read what this weeks theme was I knew which picture I would use. Now I did not take this photo but my father did with my camera while we were on a mini family vacation a few years ago. And since it is a picture of my family and I own the rights to the photo I am submitting it for this weeks theme.

Photobucket

This was our first family picture ever taken.

If you would like to enter into iHeart Faces weekly photo challenges head on over to their site. Contests now open on Mondays and close on Tuesdays at 9pm (CST).

Wordless Wednesday-Did anyone else see this?

I walked out to go get the mail on Sunday and for some reason that I am not sure of, I looked up at the sun. My mouth dropped to the floor and I ran back inside to get my little point and shoot camera. Probably not a big deal to most but I just thought it looked amazing so I had to get some pictures of the sun. There was a complete ring around it. I’ve seen partial rings before but never a complete one and one so pronounced.

What is your preferred DSLR camera

I am personally a Nikon girl. I’ve mentioned before that even though I have used a Canon I am standing firm with my love for my Nikon.  The Nikon is a little heavier then a Canon but the speed at which the Nikon shoots with literally no wait in between snapping photos outweighs (pun intended) any other “issues” for me. Once again I am back to a non op camera, my husband thinks it’s the memory card but I am thinking there might be an issue with the camera itself since this is memory card number five since I have had the camera. I am currently drooling keeping my eye on the Nikon D7000 and hey why not shoot for the stars, I’m also loving the Nikon D300s. But I am not picky, I’ll take either of them LOL
